Our History

Prostate cancer is one of the most common non-skin cancers in men, and remains one of the major causes of death worldwide. For reasons not yet known it affects Africans and men of African descent more than other races. Although only 9-11% of men are at risk of clinically suffering from prostate cancer in their life time, it is estimated that up to 90% of men suffer from a prostate condition at one time in their life time. Studies show that in Kenya about 12% of men are at risk of developing prostate cancer, with Nairobi men having the highest risk exposure. The population of men aged 50 years and above in Kenya is estimated at 2 million, thus over 200,000 are at risk.

The prunus Africana tree has been used in African Traditional Medicine (ATM) for centuries to treat the various prostate complications. The science behind the working of this African “miracle tree” is now well researched and documented.

In the last 40 years this plant, which is only found in sub-Saharan Africa has been very aggressively harvested and exported to Europe for the manufacture of anticancer medications.

The problem for Pruna in Africa has been that it has hitherto not been offered in a friendly ready-to-use way. But, for the first time, it is now available in a men-friendly packaging complete with clinically determined dosage.
